FRIDAY FAVES: Shopping for Produce

How do you get your produce?

Today's Friday Fave is a little different. With Summer just around the corner, the options for how you get your produce are endless! In the Winter so many of go to the grocery store pick up whatever looks half decent (or frozen). But in the summer... What's your favourite way to GET YOUR PRODUCE????

We get ours from a food box from Cooper's Farm as we like to support local farmers. I can't wait to hear how you get your produce...

And:
I know I have posted something similar to this before, but really, I think it's a good reminder at this time of year and recently Becoming Maternity posted it on their Facebook page. So when you are debating about organic or not, think of this:

  1. I love going to markets in Toronto. St Lawrence Market with the whole family is a nice trip and we can pick up veggies and meat.

  2. We've been doing Front Door Organics for about a month now, and I'm pretty happy with it. This summer, they're doing a $5 discount when you make your bin entirely Ontario produce. We can get other groceries with it too. They've also advertised that they do 20% off crates of produce, so when the Ontario Organic strawberries come in, we'll get as many as we can and freeze them for the winter. We're also headed to the Brickworks tomorrow to see what we can find. It's fun to see where your food comes from. We do organic as much as we can, but don't worry when we can't.

We actually went to the Wychwood Barns Famers Market last weekend--and it made for a nice family outing!

  6. Hi Andrea,
I haven't been strawberry picking in Toronto but I know that there are some locations in the GTA--west and east of the city.
Sorry I couldn't be more help!
