Class Review--Gymboree Play and Learn Level 1 (Leaside)

I have asked some other moms to help me out with class reviews, so a lot of the reviews are completed by guest bloggers. The guest bloggers are moms who are currently living in Toronto. I am hoping to post a lot of class reviews to help all you moms out there research classes that are appropriate for you and your little one.
Comments on your own experience of these classes are also appreciated!

We really enjoyed this class from the time my daughter was 4 months until she reached 6 months. Every week we learned new songs with actions. My daughter’s favourite thing was the huge tummy time mirror that the babies were placed on each week and balls were rolled around for them to watch. Each class, the instructor brought out different equipment such as flashlights, scarves, balls, puppets etc.. and we worked on different skills with our babies. A lot of the activities covered were things you could continue doing at home, but maybe would not think of on your own. There was also a short time for moms to discuss different milestones or issues going on with their babies and it was a great way to seek advice from other moms.

The teachers follow weekly lesson plans created by Gymboree so every week is different. Some of the songs are a little cheesy and are played from a CD. It would have been nice to be given the lyrics from the songs as they are not repeated every week and are quickly forgotten by sleep-deprived moms. The cost is a little expensive for this age group. They are charged the same as the older groups, but cannot really make use of the free time at the gym offered with the membership since they are not ready to use the larger equipment yet.
Some moms feel it is best to wait to join until Play and Learn Level 2 (6-10 months) since once your child is moving and sitting they can use a lot more of the specialized equipment.
